Cloud Virtual Desktop

bdManagedIT provides North Georgia businesses with secure, fully managed cloud virtual desktops that give every staff member access to a consistent Windows environment from any device, anywhere, without putting company data on personal hardware.

Cloud virtual desktops move the computing environment off the physical device and into a secure cloud platform similar to Windows 365 and Azure Virtual Desktop. Your staff log in from a laptop, tablet, or thin client and see the same desktop, applications, and files they have always used. We provision, secure, monitor, and support the entire environment so you get the flexibility of remote work without the security exposure that comes with it.

What's included

Fully managed desktop environment

We build, configure, and maintain each virtual desktop to your specifications, including installed applications, security policies, and access controls. Every desktop is patched and updated centrally so no machine is ever running out-of-date software.

Access from any device, any location

Staff connect from a company laptop, a personal computer, a tablet, or a thin client terminal. The desktop experience is identical regardless of the device used, and company data never leaves the secure cloud environment to sit on a local hard drive.

Integrated security controls

ThreatLocker application allowlisting, managed MFA, and encrypted connections are applied at the platform level. An attacker who compromises a user device cannot extract company data because it was never stored there.

Scalable licensing and provisioning

Adding a new staff member means provisioning a new virtual desktop in minutes rather than imaging and shipping a physical machine. Seasonal workforce changes, acquisitions, and new locations are all handled without hardware procurement delays.

What you get

Enable secure remote and hybrid work

Staff work productively from home, client sites, or any location without creating the security exposure of local data storage. Company data stays in the cloud environment under your control regardless of where the employee connects from.

Eliminate end-of-life hardware risk

When a laptop reaches end of life, you replace the hardware, not the environment. Staff plug into a new machine and their desktop is identical to the one they left. No data migration, no configuration time, no productivity loss.

Simplify compliance and data governance

Data residency, access logging, and retention controls are applied at the cloud platform level. Demonstrating to a HIPAA auditor or cyber insurer that company data does not reside on unmanaged endpoints is straightforward when the architecture makes it structurally true.

Predictable cost per user

Cloud virtual desktops consolidate hardware refresh cycles, software licensing, and IT support into a single per-user monthly cost. Budgeting for growth becomes a multiplication problem rather than a capital expenditure conversation.

Cloud Virtual Desktop, frequently asked questions

What is the difference between cloud virtual desktop and a VPN?
A VPN tunnels your physical device into the company network. The applications and data still run locally, which means company data touches the local hard drive and a compromised device is a security risk. A cloud virtual desktop runs the entire environment in the cloud. The local device is just a screen and keyboard. Company data never leaves the secure platform.
How does performance compare to a local desktop?
For most business applications including Microsoft 365, line-of-business apps, and web tools, the experience is indistinguishable from a local desktop on a reliable internet connection. We size compute and memory resources to each user role during onboarding. Graphic-intensive workloads may require GPU-enabled desktop configurations, which we can provision on request.
What happens if the internet goes down at a user's location?
Cloud virtual desktops require an active internet connection to function. For staff at your primary office locations we recommend a backup internet connection as part of a broader business continuity plan. Staff working remotely can switch to a mobile hotspot. We can design a continuity plan that minimizes downtime exposure for your specific environment.
Can we use our existing Microsoft 365 licenses with cloud virtual desktops?
Yes. Existing Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Enterprise licenses include rights to use Microsoft 365 applications within Azure Virtual Desktop environments. We audit your current licensing during onboarding and identify any gaps so you are not paying for duplicate entitlements or running applications without proper coverage.
Who is a cloud virtual desktop right for?
It fits businesses with remote or hybrid staff, contractors, or strict data-control needs, anyone who wants the same secure desktop on any device. It also speeds up onboarding, since a new hire gets a ready-to-work desktop in minutes.
